What is Special Edition: NYC?

Celebrate your love of comic books, cartooning, illustration and the graphic arts at Special Edition: NYC, a comic book festival held annually in the birthplace of comics – New York City! From rising stars to living legends, Special Edition: NYC is the place to meet your favorite comic book heroes and get exclusive access to special guests from the pages of mainstream, alternative, indie, international and web comics. At Special Edition: NYC you will have the opportunity to collect the latest comics, buy the hard to find back issues and add original art to your collection. Special Edition: NYC is a pure celebration of comic book culture created specifically for die-hard comic book fans, creators and publishers!

Who’s the organizer?

Special Edition: NYC is another killer event by ReedPOP. ReedPOP also runs New York Comic Con (NYCC), the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2), Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) Prime, East, South and Australia, Star Wars Celebration, Emerald City Comicon, Oz Comic-Con, BookCon and Comic Con India.

Special Edition: NYC 2015 was held at Pier 94 in New York City. Pier 94 is located at 711 12th Avenue, New York, NY. Stay tuned for the Special Edition: NYC 2016 location!

How much does it cost?

Tickets to Special Edition: NYC vary in price. Sign up for our newsletter and stay tuned to our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for the Special Edition: NYC 2016 details.

Who needs a Ticket?

Children 5 and under will be admitted for free all weekend and no Ticket is required. Kids 6-12 must purchase a Kids Ticket to attend Special Edition: NYC. Please be prepared to show proof of age onsite.

How do I get a Ticket?

You will be able to purchase your Special Edition: NYC Tickets in advance of the show online, at various comic shops around NYC and if Tickets are not sold out, they will be available to purchase onsite the day of the Show.

Is there a refund policy?

Sorry, Special Edition: NYC Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.

What do I do if I find/lose something?

Please bring all found items to the Show Office or the Security Office. The Lost and Found is located in the Security Office.

What if I get hurt?

If you're hurt reach out to the Special Edition: NYC Staff, Crew, or nearby Security and we'll get you the help you need!

What if I am harassed?

Harassment of any kind, including stalking, deliberate intimidation, unwelcome physical attention, physical assault and battery, will not be tolerated at Special Edition: NYC. If it's illegal outside the convention center, it's illegal inside the convention center. Harassment is grounds for removal from the convention without refund as well as potential legal action. We want Special Edition: NYC to be a safe, open and accepting environment for all Fans and if you find yourself victim of harassment at the convention please come immediately to Special Edition: NYC's Show Office. What does Special Edition: NYC think of Bootlegs?

The buying and selling of counterfeit, knock-off or unlicensed materials is not tolerated at Special Edition: NYC. The Show is a celebration of the best of comic books, cartooning, illustration and the graphic arts, and bootlegs have no place in the show. Violation of this rule will result in one and only one warning. A second violation and you'll be removed from the Show.

What does Special Edition: NYC think of weapons?

Please read this entire policy before attending Special Edition: NYC. Failure to follow this policy may result in your removal from the convention without refund. The following items are generally forbidden at Special Edition: NYC:

  • Functional firearms (including air soft guns, BB guns, cap guns, paintball guns and pellet guns)
  • Realistic replica firearms (including reproduction, fake or toy guns that can be confused for functional firearms)
  • Functional projectile weapons (including blow guns, crossbows, long bows, silly string, slingshots, water balloons and water guns)
  • Sharpened metal-bladed weapons (including axes, daggers, hatches, knives, kunai, shuriken, swords, sword canes and switch blades)
  • Explosives (including firecrackers and fireworks)
  • Chemical weapons (including mace and pepper spray)
  • Blunt weapons (including brass knuckles, clubs and nunchaku)
  • Hard prop weapons (including props made of metal, fiberglass and glass)
  • Instruments that cause excessive noise levels like vuvuzelas
  • Whips
  • Aerosol mustard
  • Prop weapons will be allowed providing they are composed of cardboard, foam, wood or other light materials. Prop firearms are allowed only if they cannot be mistaken for real weapons. The barrel of all prop firearms must be covered with brightly-colored caps. Prop bows will be allowed providing all arrows have soft tips.

Weapons and Bag Check

Management shall have sole discretion in any matter that it believes may affect public safety or be important to protect the integrity of the Show.

What should I do if my child, friends, family or I get separated?

Find a Special Edition: NYC staff member or security guard and we will help you locate your missing party. We suggest that when you arrive at Special Edition: NYC you and your party pick a location to meet in case anyone does get lost.


What is a Medical Badge?

Medical Badges are available to Special Edition: NYC Fans who require special assistance. To find out more about the Medical Badge and what it entails visit our Fans with Special Needs page.

Can I bring my pet?

If you have pets, please leave them at home. Pier 94 will not allow animals — except for service animals — into the building.

What is My Show?

My Show ia a free tool you can use to easily find Exhibitors, Creators, Show Specials and then add them to your personal Show agenda. Check back later this year for more information on My Show.

Can I take pictures/video at the Show?

For the most part, you're welcome to take still pictures and video at Special Edition: NYC. Please understand though that guests may or may not pose for photographs with Fans. Guests have a right to their privacy and if they ask not to have their picture taken, please respect their wishes.

Will I be on camera?

In purchasing a Ticket to Special Edition: NYC and in consideration for being admitted to the Event, the holder consents to being recorded (by audio, visual and/or other means) for exhibition and exploitation by any means in all media now known or hereafter devised worldwide in perpetuity. Holder also hereby: (1) releases Reed Exhibitions from any liability for loss or damage to persons or property, infringement of any right or any other claim or course of action of any kind; (2) authorizes and permits Reed Exhibitions and its designees which include but are not limited to all sponsors, exhibitors and contractors to use and authorize the use of his/her name, voice, likeness and all reproductions thereof by any means and in all media now and hereafter know for all purposes worldwide in perpetuity; and (3) agrees to comply with all rules and regulations of the event. Holder agrees not to make any recordings of any kind at designated activities without the express written permission of Reed Exhibitions. We reserve the right to deny entry or remove from the event facilities any person who in our sole and absolute discretion is behaving or threatening to behave in a manner which we reasonably consider to be disruptive of the event.
